Book Collecting Contest Winners

First place winner Nora Benedict, judge David Whitesell, and second place winner Isaac May in front of the exhibit of treasures from the winning collections.

The winners of the 2016 BSUVA Book Collecting Contest were announced at the Society’s Annual Meeting on Friday, March 18. The winners are:

First place, $500, and the BSUVA Rare Book School Fellowship— Nora Benedict, “Argentine Publishing and the Many Faces of Jorge Luis Borges”

Second place, $300— Isaac May, “Collecting and Preserving Anglo-American Quaker Publications”

As first-place winner, Ms. Benedict will be entering the National Collegiate Book Collecting Contest to compete for their first prize of $2,500.

All the contestants received gift certificates generously donated by ten local booksellers.

Selections from the winning collections were on display in the Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library during the spring.
