Book Collecting Contest Winners 2018

The winners of the 2018 BSUVA Book Collecting Contest were announced at the Society’s Annual Meeting on Friday, March 23. The winners are:

First place, $1,000, and the BSUVA Rare Book School Fellowship—Samuel V. Lemley, “Biblioteca Genealogica: Sicilian Printing, 1704-1893”

Second place, $600—James P. Ascher, “Annotations to Samuel Butler’s Hudibras 1678-1858”

Honorable Mention, $300–Phillip M. Tan, “Singing through 500 Years of Reformed and Presbyterian Psalters”

As first-place winner, Mr. Lemley entered the National Collegiate Book Collecting Contest and captured their first prize of $2,500.

Contestants in the BSUVA contest received gift certificates generously donated by eight local booksellers.

Selections from the winning collections were on display in the Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library through April.
